Kylie Barnes is a senior on Silver Elite and previously danced on Talonettes. She will attend Oklahoma State University in the fall and plans to major in architectural engineering. Besides dancing, Barnes enjoys reading and crafting in her free time.
How long have you been dancing outside of school and on the drill team?
Barnes: “I have been dancing outside of school for about eight years, and I started dancing on a drill team in seventh grade.
Are you planning on dancing after high school?
Barnes: “Yes, I am planning to try out for the Oklahoma State University Pom Squad and hopefully continue dancing on the football field.”
Who do you feel most inspires you?
Barnes: “My family is always inspiring me and pushing me to be the best I can be. My mother and my grandmother were both on dance teams when they were younger and they always tell me how much fun they had dancing with their friends and making lifelong memories. I have also always looked up to the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and their confidence on the field.”
What is your favorite memory from your years in high school?
Barnes: “I will always remember my first Friday night football performance during my freshman year. Nothing can top performing in front of a stadium full of people.”
As a senior, what are your future plans or aspirations?
Barnes: “I want to attend Oklahoma State Univeristy and major in architecural engineer to hopefullt become an engineer like my grandpa was.”
What is a piece of advice you would give to an incoming freshman?
Barnes: “Take every opportunity that is handed to you and live life with no regrets.”
