On Frontier Pkwy, from the stretch of Preston Rd and Dallas Pkwy alone, there are endless dessert options. New spots for drinks, ice cream, and donuts seem to pop up constantly with more on the way. With so many choices, how do these sweet treats stack up against each other?
#6: Bahama Bucks

While Bahama Bucks has a wide variety of flavors, the taste of the flavoring can be overly sweet. The flavor is often more like syrup than the actual taste you would expect (cherry, grape, etc.). The Prosper location is also relatively new, which may be an explanation for why the lines take so long and the service is so slow. This could improve over time as the establishment gains more experience. However, there are so many options to choose from that everyone should be able to find something they like. These flavors range from sweet tastes, like bubblegum or birthday cake, to sour tastes, like pickle juice or lime.

#5: Shipley Donuts

Like Bahama Bucks, Shipley Donuts has a long list of donut and kolache options that should satisfy everyone’s taste buds. With donut choices from regular, to filled, to cake, there is almost an overwhelming amount of choices. Though not a dessert, the kolaches are always a warm, delicious option too. While I enjoy Shipley Donuts, it doesn’t have anything unique that can’t be found in any other donut shop, thus it’s lower ranking. Be sure to get to the store early because they tend to run out of donuts quickly.
Favorite Menu Item: Bullseye Chocolate Donut
#4: Swig

I may be slightly biased against Swig as someone that doesn’t typically like soda. However, I have to appreciate the variety in their menu and the low prices they offer. Swig has various flavored sodas and desserts like chocolate and sugar cookies. Though not a dessert, I would recommend their pretzel bites if you need a quick snack. Swig works like a high functioning machine. They seem to be constantly busy but still move through the line pretty quickly. They are constantly updating their menu with new seasonal options. For fall, I recommend their pumpkin spice drinks and pumpkin flavored cookies.

#3: Feng Cha

Feng Cha was the biggest surprise for me on this list. I have never tried boba tea before, and really enjoyed it. The boba milk tea was delicious. If boba isn’t your speed they also offer a range of coffees, matcha, and smoothies. They even offer cakes that come in several tasty flavors including “Matcha Love”, “Cookie Snowfall”, and “Strawberry Princess”. Feng Cha is one of the few places on this list that has a decorative interior perfect for meeting up with friends, studying, or enjoying a fresh drink. One of the best parts of visiting Feng Cha was simply enjoying sitting inside.
Favorite Menu Item: Summer Melon Oolong Tea
#2: Handel’s

Handel’s Ice Cream is made to perfection. While they don’t have as many options as some other places on this list, every flavor is delicious and a perfect consistency. If you prefer sorbet, you’re in luck! There are plenty of delicious sorbet and icee options including red raspberry, coconut milk, and watermelon. The service is always fast and enjoyable. Handel’s has wall art that honors each high school in Prosper, giving it the feel of a hometown staple.

#1: Abbott’s

Abbott’s has it all. There is truly something for everyone. From custards, sundaes, splits, milkshakes, flurries, floats, ice cream sandwiches, and more, there are almost an overwhelming amount of choices. The desserts are the perfect balance of sweetness and flavor. This is also one of the only places on this list where you can sit down and enjoy your dessert. The interior is delightfully decorated and the perfect place to enjoy a sweet treat with friends and family.
