“All I Want for Christmas Is You” is one of the greatest Holiday Hits of all time. Many students at The Grove say this is one of their favorite Christmas songs. Listening to this song marks the start of the most wonderful time of the year!

The right time to begin streaming Christmas music is a long-debated topic that resurfaces each year. It is hard for listeners to come to an agreement on the proper timing for this long-beheld tradition. Some insist on starting their listening the moment Halloween is over, but others believe in letting Thanksgiving have its moment before holiday music is imposed.

After polling students at The Grove, most agree that Christmas has come early and holiday music is best enjoyed throughout November. Most students start their holiday festivities right as Halloween has passed, updating their seasonal playlists on November 1. Most students at The Grove prefer listening to Pop hits and Christmas classics, though many enjoy the variety of holiday music from all genres.

Many celebrities have encouraged listening to holiday music ahead of time, such as Laufey, Norah Jones, Sabrina Carpenter, One Republic, Jon Pardi, and Pentatonix, with the Christmas Icon Mariah Carey announcing a holiday tour. Whether it be a single, Extended Play [EP], album, or national tour, most of these artists have already released their works to the public, further encouraging early listening.

Some even begin decorating as soon as possible, decking the halls when the jack-o-lanterns are thrown out. Take a look around town to see how many twinkling rooftops and wreaths you see, marking Prosper’s festivity thus far into the holiday season. Those who decorate early will likely be part of the November holiday music crowd. And as the temperature finally drops, it is easy to develop holiday cheer. So bring on all your favorite festivities because Christmas is near!
