Prom tickets for seniors and their dates are for sale until May 1st for $90. This year’s prom will be held at 7 p.m. on May 2, 2026 at the Hilton Granite Park in Plano. Links to buy prom tickets can be accessed on the Wildcat Weekly and via QR codes on posters around campus. Outside guests will need to have a form filled out by someone who goes to Walnut Grove.
“Prom matters to everyone for it is a coming together, not as such a celebration to just have fun, to party, but more of a realization that this is maybe the last celebration,” senior, Daniel Grace said.
This year’s prom is organized by class officers. The theme is Gilded Masquerade. Students will be expected to wear masks with a formal dress or suit. The color scheme of this year’s prom is black, white, gold, green and purple.
“We were talking about the Great Gatsby and that was one of the mood boards that Mrs. Claypoole put together. Once we saw it we were like, ‘yes, that’s the one’,” junior, Emma Bains said. “We loved the color scheme, the fun decorations, the cool, unique vibe. Then, we were like ‘what if we add a mask and make it a masquerade ball?’ We wanted it to be mysterious and unique and adding a mask would just up that to a whole new level.”
There is a no re-entry policy where a student’s ticket can only let them enter once. Parking details will come out next week with a map.
“Ultimately, the rules aren’t there to limit the fun, they are there to protect it. These allow us to create a space where everyone feels welcome to relax and dive into everything we’ve planned for the night,” said prom sponsor Audra Claypoole.
This year, there are other activities offered alongside the dance. These include a caricature booth, a 360 photo booth and card games like poker and blackjack, minus the betting.
“We worked very hard to make sure there is something for everyone. So if you like to dance, there’s a dance floor or if you like just chill, hang with friends while playing some games there’s that too. We want everyone to have so much fun and enjoy it as much as possible,” Bains said.
Students are expected to eat beforehand as there will only be snacks offered at prom. The drinks available will be at prom in the form of a soda bar.
“Last year’s was at Toyota Stadium, and there were lots of windows, and it was very bright, and just a totally different vibe than this dark space that we’re going to make just really come to life and really make it feel like you’re back in the 1600s like it was in the Masquerade,” senior, Colby Miller said.
