With the intention of bringing joy and comforting patients, the student council plans to donate stuffed animals to the Cooks Children’s Medical Center by hosting the Teddy Bear Toss, and collecting donations throughout the week. The Toss will be held on Feb. 6 during halftime of the varsity boys home game that begins at 7:15 p.m.

After strumming her guitar, Gertrude McFuzz cries over her featherless tail. Protrayed by Sarah Jane Hanchey, the character goes to the doctor to grow out her tail. Its fun to act in a kids show because you can just clown around a little bit, sophomore Hanchey said. This show is really expressive and fun for all ages.

After handing out a flyer, Isabella Bowden smiles encouragingly to Wildcat parents. The Mental Health Club hopes to promote well-being for all students at The Grove. Its a really good opportunity to spread awareness for about topics like anxiety depression and stress, and make it known that its normal to have those things, Bowden said. Club members try to break the stigma behind mental health and make an impact on the Wildcat community.

As they sit on a prop boat, sophomore Corvus Mckay and senior Kaelin Eckels perform the last scene of Anatomy of Grey. Mckay portrays the role of Homer, a character about to sail off and start a life with Eckels character, June. I liked playing Homer because he is so simple as a person, McKay said, It was an outlook I have never looked at before. I loved playing a character like that.

Future Wildcats are Inspired to Get Involved At Expo Night

The Grove opened its doors to current and upcoming students to display each sport, club, and extracurricular activities offered on the evening of Jan. 17th.

The Grove opens its doors to all incoming freshmen to showcase all extracurriculars, courses, and clubs. Current wildcats are able to browse the halls to prepare for current course selection as well as advertise their own groups. The event lasted from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Jan. 17th.

Click the photo above to begin a slideshow showcasing student volunteers who donated their blood and their experience serving the community in an unique way.

Students from all kinds of groups at The Grove encouraged future Wildcats to get involved at school by joining clubs they are passionate about. Tables were set up with posters, flyers, treats, and interactive displays to appeal to not only incoming freshmen but also current students as course selection for the 2024-2025 school year has begun.

Who: Incoming Walnut Grove freshmen and current Wildcats.

What: Expo Night showcasing clubs, sports, courses, and extracurricular activities.

Gathered at the tables, the National Charity League Prosper chapter, teams up with students from other high schools to fold boxes for Childrens Hunger Fund in Frisco. Each box will later be packed and shipped out.

As a sure sign of confidence, senior Kaelin Eckels gives a big thumbs up in the middle of donating blood. She braved the blood drive today with two things to motivate her. I have a rare blood type, so I wanted to give that, said Eckels. Also I wanted to overcome my fear of needles. Kaelin fulfilled her goals with a smile.

Ellie Schofield is a Senior at Walnut Grove High School. This is her first year on the Wildcats Wired newspaper team, and she serves as a Copy Editor and the Web Master. She hopes to share her love for writing through Wildcats Wired and improve her coverage and photography skills. She is also involved in NHS, StuCo, National English Honors Society and National Spanish Honors Society. In her free time she loves to paint, read, explore photography as well as film and spend time with friends and family.

Claire Sample is a senior at Walnut Grove High School and serves as the Social Media manager for Wildcats Wired. She's a dedicated photographer, journalist, and reader. Claire will most likely be attending the University of Oklahoma next year with a major in computer science.
