West Grove is anchored by Whole Foods, which broke ground in March and is set to open sometime this year. Chick-fil-A opened its doors in March 2024. “I’m so excited because I haven’t been to Whole Foods in forever, and I love all of the stuff they have,” senior Chloe Dias said. “They have so many hot foods, soups, salad bars, and even a smoothie shop. I could live there. I also can’t wait to have access to higher quality produce on days the Frisco Market isn’t open.”

Focused, junior Kari Arder works to prepare the fabric for stitching. "[Fashion Design] is one of my classes that I get to be the most creative in, which is nice," Arder said. Arder plans on pursuing a career in the fashion industry. "Maybe the business side of fashion," Arder said. "Probably not design though."
Arm at the ready, No. 11 senior Harper Collins prepares to make her 10th goal of the game. Collins scored 11 total goals throughout the game and 45 goals this season. Collins serves her second year as a Walnut Grove water polo captain.
Prepared to score, No. 7 senior John Hutson jukes the opposing Trojan player. The varsity football team played against Newman Smith High School on Friday, Aug. 30. This was the first official game for the varsity football season.
Smile on her face, senior Kaylee Mitchell stands in victory lines. Mitchell has been on Sliver Elites for two years. Mitchell has also been Blue Hawks Rockettes.
Striding across the stage, Sophie Kim belts out the popular song, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.”
After strumming her guitar, Gertrude McFuzz cries over her featherless tail. Protrayed by Sarah Jane Hanchey, the character goes to the doctor to grow out her tail. "It's fun to act in a kids show because you can just clown around a little bit," sophomore Hanchey said. "This show is really expressive and fun for all ages."
After handing out a flyer, Isabella Bowden smiles encouragingly to Wildcat parents. The Mental Health Club hopes to promote well-being for all students at The Grove. "It's a really good opportunity to spread awareness for about topics like anxiety depression and stress, and make it known that it's normal to have those things," Bowden said. Club members try to break the stigma behind mental health and make an impact on the Wildcat community.
Ready to pass the ball, No. 1 freshman Ava Kim tries to outrun Sachse player. The Walnut Grove varsity girls soccer team played against Sachse High School Tuesday, Jan. 9. Walnut Grove players wore orange ribbons in their hair to support Leukemia Awareness.
As they sit on a prop boat, sophomore Corvus Mckay and senior Kaelin Eckels perform the last scene of Anatomy of Grey. Mckay portrays the role of Homer, a character about to sail off and start a life with Eckel's character, June. "I liked playing Homer because he is so simple as a person," McKay said, "It was an outlook I have never looked at before. I loved playing a character like that."
Gathered at the tables, the National Charity League Prosper chapter, teams up with students from other high schools to fold boxes for Children's Hunger Fund in Frisco. Each box will later be packed and shipped out.
As a sure sign of confidence, senior Kaelin Eckels gives a big thumbs up in the middle of donating blood. She braved the blood drive today with two things to motivate her. "I have a rare blood type, so I wanted to give that," said Eckels. "Also I wanted to overcome my fear of needles." Kaelin fulfilled her goals with a smile.
Junior Oviya Omprakash doing freshman Naomi DeShazo's eye liner. Omprakash is known as "Make-up Artist Oviya" amoungst the color guard. She is an squad leader and dedicated member of the WG Guard.
Ready to receive a pass, Taylor Owens, a freshman varsity water polo player swims forward towards the goal. The Senior game against Rock Hill provided an opportunity for many freshmen to get playing time. Owens, Quinn Geyter, and June Horton, all freshmen varsity water polo players new to the sport, got lots of opportunities to showcase their improvement from the first tournament. “It was tough because I hadn’t played that much before.” Geyter said, “But after the goal I scored, everything felt so much better.” This was Geyter’s second goal this season.
